Let Me Tell You that I'm Proud


You have glanced at me in criticism
Wondering what has caused me wearing what I wear
However weird it is to you
Let me tell you than I’m proud

Have you not said before
That diin is not about garment
But about what’s in the heart
And the belief one holds on to


But what is such belief, do tell me
When it is clearly stated about the hijaab
You turn away and ignore it
As if it’s never been said and written?

You look down on my covering
Thinking that it is a sign of fanaticism
A covering of weakness
But allow me to say that I’m proud

You give yourself up to people’s admiration
Thinking that you are a free soul
But alas, you in fact are in chain
Allow people to choose for you

I may not be pretty
Or even looked gloomy to your taste
But I’m happy of choosing what I’ve chosen
So let me tell you that I’m proud
